“The Yummiest” Part 2: Chocolate Cake!

Last week, I wrote about a delicious new chocolate sauce recipe that I found. This week, I would like to point you all to a post that my dear friend Amanda Cook just wrote. Before I send you over to her blog, let me tell you a bit about Amanda. She was my roommate back in Athens, Georgia before she married the amazing Sam(wise) Cook. In addition to being a great swing dancer and an all around fantastic friend, she is an incredibly talented baker. Everything that she bakes tastes delicious, she comes up with the yummiest flavor combinations (like lemon cake with honey buttercream frosting), and she is a wonderfully creative and resourceful cake decorator. Don’t take my word for that last part. Pay a visit to her website, flowerhairedgirlcakes.com, and see for yourself.

So now that you know a bit more about Amanda, I’ll explain the reason for my post. Amanda makes the most delicious chocolate cake I have ever tasted in my life. And, being a chocoholic, I have tasted alot of chocolate cakes. None of them are quite as good as Amanda’s. Hers is soft and moist in texture and deeply, sinfully chocolaty in flavor. Now that I no longer live in Athens, I am not treated to regular doses of Amanda’s chocolate cake. So imagine my delight when she published her latest blog post, the aptly titled “The Most In-Depth Cake Tutorial You Will Probably Ever Read,” which includes her chocolate cake recipe and detailed instructions for baking it.

If you are at all interested in baking, I encourage you to read it. I, for one, will be following her advice tomorrow afternoon when I try out her lemon pound cake recipe. Since this will be my first time baking at 5400 feet about sea level, I will be blogging about it too. So stay tuned, but in the mean time, partake of Amanda’s wisdom!
