Classic City Swing: The Balboa Edition

You may remember that I posted last month about an event that I was planning as part of my volunteer PR job with Athens Swing Night. Well, I am proud to announce that, after a month of planning, our event is a go, as is its brand new website: classiccityswing.com.

This has been my first experience planning a brand new annual event (or at least one that we hope will become annual). In the past, I have only planned the newest edition of an already established, yearly event. That was fun, but this has been amazing. I probably only say that because I’m such a detail geek and planning freak, but hey, the world needs people like us. I also got a chance to learn much, much more about WordPress, CSS and HTML, which is always good. This is the first website I’ve designed that I am actually proud of, so.. huzzah!

Now that the event is planned and the website is ready, I will be moving on to the advertising phase. To be perfectly honest, that is the main reason I’m writing this post. The parent organization for this event is The University of Georgia Swing Club, aka a student organization, aka one that has no money. The more free advertising we can get the better. So! If you are reading this post, and you like to swing dance, have been meaning to learn how or have ever considered picking it up, I highly encourage you to attend. Classic City Swing is a weekend of workshops and dances. This year’s event takes place on September 23 and 24, 2011, and our workshops will focus on a style of swing dancing called Balboa. If you want to learn more, just click on the above thumbnail and visit our website. If you have questions, you can leave a comment here or use the “Contacts” page on the site. See you all in September!
