All I’ve written about so far is my newest hobby: cuisine. I figure it’s time to add some variety to this thing and talk about a couple of other loves of mine. Namely, the outdoors and traveling. This is inspired partly by the amazing weather we are having in Athens, GA today and partly by the fact that I have just booked my plane ticket for spring break. I’ll be going home to Texas!
Why is this so exciting, you ask? Well (most of) the sayings about Texans are true. We are ridiculously proud of our state, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts. I may not plan to live in Texas again until I retire, but the thought of going back still cheers me. Especially the thought of going back to Texas in the spring time, when the wildflowers are blooming and the weather is gorgeous. As long as there aren’t any unnaturally late freezes, I should be treated to a sight like this one while I’m driving down to the Texas Hill Country.
Yup. Bluebonnets, the state flower of Texas, are in season beginning in late March. This particular photograph was taken four years ago in Ennis, TX. I’ll be traveling a bit further south than that with one of my oldest friends and her family, and we’ll have a couple of blissful days to explore all that the Texas countryside has to offer. It’s going to be awesome!
